Its 9pm Phoenix time (although I’m in Missouri where its 10pm). Tomorrow morning I’m running a 5k with my wife, brother-in-law, my brother-in-law’s wife, and a couple hundred other locals. I’m excited that our family get togethers aren’t dominated with passive activities like going to the movies, or eating big meals (although we plan to do both while we are here!).
I’ve already gone on a 2 mile warm up run with my Bro-in-law and we did it in record time – at least for me it was record! I’m hoping for a time tomorrow that is better than 37 mins. Its pretty slow by most running standards but when you are carrying around an extra hundred pounds, its not that bad. My personal best before tomorrow is 37 minutes flat, using my phone’s GPS and an application called iMapMyRun.
Its late and I should be in bed but I’m pretty excited. I’m not sure that I will have time to blog tomorrow about the race results, but you can watch the iMapMyRun updates on my facebook page starting tomorrow at 7am Phoenix time. Speaking of Facebook – I’ll close with a quote left on my wall today:
Champions do not become champions when they win the event, but in the hours, weeks, months and years they spend preparing for it. The victorious performance itself is merely the demonstration of their championship character. – T. Alan Armstrong, author
